About Tasha
Before
becoming a full-time mum in 2004, I worked for a number of years as a
sub-editor and copywriter on various magazines and TV guides in both London
and Sydney, including Vogue Australia, She Australia, The Sky TV Guide
and The Sun TV Guide to name a few.
It was while working in Sydney that I decided to create the time to write
a novel. To my amazement, the novel I wrote, Ticket To Ride, won the interest
of a couple of literary agents (as well as being rejected by hoards of
others). Although in the end publishers turned it down, it still felt
like a great success just to have made it that far. So without further
ado, I got cracking on my next idea, Package Deal. Again, an agent took
me on and enthusiastically took it to the publishers only to receive a
round of rejections. By this time I was heavily pregnant with my first
child and decided to put writing on the back burner for a while.
Over the past few years I have noticed new trends within the publishing
industry – from Richard and Judy’s all-powerful influence to successful
new authors self-publishing their work before being swept up by an established
publishing house, like in the case of Stephen Clarke (A Year In The Merde).
With even major bookshops offering to publish new writers’ manuscripts,
suddenly self-publishing seemed like a worthwhile route to try.
So here I am. I had a wail of a time writing this book, and so far, those
who have read it have given it the thumbs up. So I hope that you enjoy
it, and if you do, pass it on to someone else!
